Over 75% Oppose Daley's Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Scheme

Chicago Tribune's poll with over 29,000 responses shows over 75% oppose bringing the Olympic Games to Chicago.

Chicago's Olympic Bid, which started in the 1990's as an independent effort before Daley terminated it due to the financial guarantee he refused to agree with that he now boasts about, now has become a Daley-controlled scheme, which has excluded the public's input and anyone who doesn't agree with him. Daley installed Patrick Ryan as the figurehead and Daley's most recent former chief of staff, Lori Healy, to run the technically "independent" bid, promising no taxdollars would be used in any way to promote the bid or host the Olympic Games, which are untrue.

In response to growing opposition to the Daley bid scheme, Chicago 2016 released what appears to be a fake poll claiming 78% support Daley's bid scheme. No independent poll exists that is consistent with the claims of Chicago 2016.

No Games Chicago held a rally on Thursday to shut down the Olympic Bid on Thursday as the IOC Evaluation Commission arrived in Chicago. Contrary to what some may think, protests against bids for Olympic Games are not always held.

No Games Chicago has requested to meet with Olympic officials, Chicago 2016 and Mayor Daley to discuss their concerns, but, Daley and Chicago 2016 (which are the same) are refusing to answer any questions or discuss anything.

The visit, being tightly controlled by Daley, to cover up numerous issues and flaws with the City of Chicago and avoid any public interaction that would reveal facts about misleading financial projects, venue problems and questions about Daley's regime engulfed in culture of corruption, will include a venue tour on Sunday and a "no public welcome" dinner at the Art Institute on Monday evening, full of Daley cronies looking to cash in on any Olympic contracts in the future.

The same Art Institute that is doubling admission prices for the public will host the event in the new modern wing, even though the public has not yet been granted access to it. Shirley Ryan, wife of Pat Ryan, Chicago 2016 figurehead and personal friends with Daley, is overseeing the event and doubling admission prices for the people of Chicago.

Pat Ryan also is on the board of directors and part owner of the Chicago Bears and helped cut a deal with Daley to spend $700 million of taxpayer funds on Soldier Field renovation that shrunk the field dimensions making it impossible to use for track-n-field for a future Olympic Games, forcing a new "temporary" stadium for hundreds of millions more.

The two old-guard, non-visionaries, Daley and Ryan, who now claim the Olympic Games would be essential to transform the city, directly caused a $1.3 billion mistake for taxpayers and acted against an Olympic future for Chicago.

Ryan's Chicago Bears and Daley's Soldier Field have a vested interest in making sure that any Olympic stadium be temporary and not compete with Soldier Field beyond any Olympic Games. Other sites that cannot be controlled by Daley or may have long-term use have been excluded from consideration.

Ryan and Daley also were responsible for Millenium Park going far over budget. Combined with the fiscal crisis of the City of Chicago, Ryan and Daley say "trust us."

Daley is currently selling and/or leasing major Chicago assets to build up a cash reserve for the Olympic Games construction costs, venues and village since even his own brother's company, JPMorgan Chase, cannot provide the credit necessary to fund these developments.

Four 2016 bid cities, Chicago, Rio, Tokyo and Madrid, recently presented at SportAccord in Denver, where Rio was considered the favorite among attendees. A recent expert analysis by GamesBids showed Chicago last among the four candidates.

In response, Chicago 2016's Lori Healy slammed GamesBids in typical Daley-controlled Chicago-style tactics. Work only with those you can control and make anyone else irrelevant.

2016OlympicBid urges Chicago 2016's bid team of Daley cronies to be removed and replaced with independent, objective talent that understands the Olympic Movement and will put the best interests of the region and Olympic Games as the priority, not the whims or wishes of Mayor Daley, who could be indicted before October 2009.

Perhaps Daley is hoping Barack Obama will be President long enough to issue him a pardon for an extensive track record of corruption within his administration.

On Thursday, John Harris, one of Daley's former top aides, who helped coordinate the midnight destruction of Meigs Field, the former lakefront airport, before bringing Chicago-style corruption to the state, was indicted along with former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Harris is one of many several Daley aides under investigation or convicted. Daley's own son and nephew are part of new probe into city hall contracts.

The U.S Olympic Committee (USOC), which has looked the other way on the culture of corruption in Chicago, has a new CEO, Stephanie Streeter, who lacks independence from Chicago 2016 since she sits on the board.

USOC's numerous problems include a revenue-sharing dispute with the IOC. Chicago 2016's figurehead, Pat Ryan, recently blasted former USOC Chairman Peter Ueberroth for the dispute, which caused focus on the Chicago 2016 bid. Once again, the Chicago (Daley) way is to shred anyone who doesn't agree with you, may have their own view, you can't control...and if that doesn't work, you must make them irrelevant.

During the domestic bid process, then-CEO Jim Scherr's brother, Bill Scherr, was given a high-profile position with Chicago 2016.

Like Mayor Daley, Pat Ryan, Lori Healy, etc...Chicago 2016 says the inclusion of Bill Scherr was not a conflict-of-interest. It's just the Chicago (Daley) way of doing business.

Mayor Daley Trashes City of Chicago Workforce

Last Wednesday, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley threw city workers under the bus by saying they were clock-watchers.

“They’re not customer-related,” Daley said Wednesday. “They’re gonna leave at 5 o’clock. They’re gonna leave at 4:30 or 4. I’m sorry. We’re on a time clock. They walk out. But in the private sector, when you have a customer, you’re gonna stay there making sure they're happy and satisfied.

“We can't compete with the private sector. The private sector has a complete idea of who your customers are. Government doesn’t have customers. They only have citizens.”

>Audio from Chicago Sun-Times

Daley later tried to blame the media for his above statements in various double-speak and manipulation of the situation, but what lesson should the International Olympic Committee (IOC) learn from this?

Daley Says Stimulus Request List is Secret Because It Could Be Controversial | Obama's Promise of Transparency Should Reject Chicago

Unlike almost every other city in the United States, the City of Chicago through its czar, Mayor Richard Daley, says the list of requests from the proposed Economic Stimulus Package is secret.

Why? Because it might be controversial.

Daley apparently hopes to rely on his loyal aides and cronies, Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, Valerie Jarret and Michelle Obama, who like Rod Blagoejvich and John Harris who were arrested on December 9th, all have worked with Daley.

But, President Barack Obama has PROMISED the days of politics as usual is over and a new dawn of transparency would exist, so will he do the right thing and reject any request from the City of Chicago or will he play by Daley's secret rules and submit to the king of corruption?
